Low moments of the GOP debate: High fives, code names and Margaret Thatcher on the $10 bill

The three-hour GOP presidential debate on Wednesday night featured plenty of political squabbling and talk about very important issues facing the nation. There were also a few moments that left us scratching our heads.

If you’re standing next to Donald Trump in a debate, be prepared to high five

As Ben Carson answered a question about the Iraq War to The Donald’s liking, the billionaire businessman went in for what turned out to be a pretty awkward high five.

“I haven’t had an opportunity to weigh in on foreign policy and I just want to mention that when the war — when the issue occurred in 2003, I suggested to President Bush that he not go to war,” Carson said as Trump extended the gesture.

Later, Jeb Bush got in on the action.

Asked what they’d choose as Secret Service code names, here’s how the candidates responded:

  • Chris Christie: “True Heart”
  • John Kasich: “Unit One”
  • Carly Fiorina: “Secretariat”
  • Scott Walker: “Harley”
  • Jeb Bush: “Ever-Ready”
  • Donald Trump: “Humble”
  • Ben Carson: “One Nation”
  • Ted Cruz: “Cohiba”
  • Marco Rubio: “Gator”
  • Mike Huckabee: “Duck Hunter”
  • Rand Paul: “Justice Never Sleeps”

And it may be illegal, but Bush wants Margaret Thatcher on the $10 bill

Moderator Jake Tapper asked: “Earlier this year, the Treasury Department announced that a woman will appear on the $10 bill. What woman would you like to see on the $10 bill?”

“I would go with Ronald Reagan’s partner, Margaret Thatcher. Probably illegal, but what the heck?” Bush responded.

Here’s how other candidates answered:

  • Mike Huckabee: His wife.
  • Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz: Rosa Parks.
  • Rand Paul: Susan B. Anthony.
  • Donald Trump: His daughter.
  • Scott Walker: Clara Barton.
  • Chris Christie: Abigail Adams.
  • John Kasich: Mother Theresa.
  • Ben Carson: His mom.
  • Carly Fiorina: Wouldn’t change it.
