Will Joe Biden join the presidential race?
An Amtrak train discussion has sent Joe Biden supporters into a tizzy, after Josh Alcorn, a fundraiser for the “Draft Biden” super PAC, was reportedly overheard confirming: Yes, the vice president will be seeking the White House.
Alcorn, who was also a close associate of the now-deceased Beau Biden, was on the telephone as he rode the train from New York to Wilmington, and reportedly, a passenger overheard his say: “I am 100 percent that Joe is in,” National Review reported.
The passenger who reportedly heard the discussion said he wasn’t sure when Biden would announce, but estimated it around mid-October. As the National Review reported, that time frame would allow Alcorn to continue with his own plans for a visit to California.
The passenger reported to National Review Alcorn confirmed during the telephone discussion that Biden’s test ads were returning positive results, and that the vice president was successfully convincing current Hillary Clinton supporters to jump ship to the vice president. The National Review also reported Alcorn said the revenues for a Biden run for the presidency were available.
Biden would face off against Clinton and self-declared socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders, if he does get in the race. Maryland’s former governor, Martin O’Mallley, is also making a play for the Democratic nomination, but his poll numbers are low.
