Hungary police have been trying to calm the tide of migrants at the border.
Hungary stopped 29 migrants for questioning at the border with Serbia, discovering one with certain terrorist roots, the security adviser for the prime minister confirmed Thursday.
Gyorgy Bakondi, a security adviser to Prime Minister Viktor Orban, said chaos erupted at the border, forcing police to unleash tear gas and a water cannon at the crowd of 1,500 migrants rushing the fence, Reuters reported. Twenty of so police officers were injured.
And in the ensuing melee, police detained 29, one of whom hailed from a terrorist camp.
“Police also captured an identified terrorist,” Bakondi said, Reuters reported.
He declined to give additional details. But the presence of a terrorist among the mass of migrants fleeing Middle Eastern violence only underscores what military and intelligence pundits have been warning: the influx of migrants opens the door for easy terrorist access to the West.
Hungary, meanwhile, has faced widespread criticism for clamping down on border crossings with Serbia’s prime minister, Alexksandar Vucic turning to the European Union to demand the regional power exert influence and force Budapest to “behave in line with European standards,” he said, Breitbart reported.
Hungary, however, is going forth with planned extensions of its 110-mile fence along the Serbian border.
“We will also have to extend the fence to the Croatian border,” Orban said to the German newspaper Die Welt.
His statements come as police at Hungary’s borders reported numerous cries of “Allahu Akbar” during Wednesday night’s clash with migrants and rioters, as WND reported.
