All old white women must look the same to CNN producers.
CNN’s Wolf Blitzer had to apologize during coverage of its first Republican presidential debate when the network misidentified an elderly woman as 94-year-old Nancy Reagan. The gaffe’s embarrassment was heightened due to the fact CNN was broadcasting from the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in Simi Valley, California.
“We want to apologize to our viewers. We thought we saw Nancy Reagan here in the hall. We are now told that was not Nancy Reagan. We’re going to find out what exactly happened, but that’s an apology from all of us here,” Blitzer said, entertainment website THR reported.
“I really feel bad for the 65-year-old lady confused for 94,” one Twitter user said to CNN’s Brenna Williams.
“Not even close,” wrote another.
CNN’s two debates were moderated by CNN chief Washington correspondent Jake Tapper, CNN chief congressional correspondent Dana Brash, and radio host Hugh Hewitt.
