John Boehner is resigning from Congress
Rep. John Boehner, R-Ohio, is stepping down from his leadership role as speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and come October, will no longer be a member of Congress.
Rep. Bill Huizenga put out a tweet: “Speaker Boehner just announced in Conference that he will resign as Speaker and from Congress at the end of October.”
The beleagured speaker has suffered through years of criticisms from those in his own party, particularly the tea party type, who say he’s made too many concessions to President Obama and the Democratic Party’s leadership.
It’s not yet clear who’s making a run for the leadership role.
