Advocating for “total war” on “Islamism” that includes conventional and nuclear strikes and psychological warfare, an assistant professor at the U.S. Military Academy believes that critics of the so-called “war on terror” are traitors and constitute “lawful targets” for military force.
It seems that now that the establishment has lost control of the message thanks to the free Internet, they’ve apparently decided that those of us who see through their charade and write about it ought to be hit with drone strikes. Thank you, Professor William C. Bradford, for giving us insight into the thought processes of the psychopaths in the military and establishment academia.
In case you missed it in the first paragraph, Bradford teaches cadets at the U.S. Military Academy. He started doing so in August, four months after publishing this paper. He’s doubtless now filling the mush-filled “patriotic” skulls there with his imperialistic, anti-freedom, anti-American philosophy, along with the notion that all Muslims are terrorists and that everyone who does not bow and scrape before the military and establishment is a traitor worthy of death. I guess natural rights and the 1st Amendment are not topics they cover in the Military Academy.
And in a twist that The Onion would envy, Bradford is a Harvard University graduate with a Master of Laws degree focusing on human rights. Did he sleep through class, or is this what is being taught in Ivy League schools these days?
Bradford’s paper was published in April in the National Security Law Journal. After publishing it, the NSLJ tried to walk it back, saying publishing the article was a mistake.
As the incoming Editorial Board, we want to address concerns regarding Mr. Bradford’s contention that some scholars in legal academia could be considered as constituting a fifth column in the war against terror; his interpretation is that those scholars could be targeted as unlawful combatants. The substance of Mr. Bradford’s article cannot fairly be considered apart from the egregious breach of professional decorum that it exhibits. We cannot “unpublish” it, of course, but we can and do acknowledge that the article was not presentable for publication when we published it, and that we therefore repudiate it with sincere apologies to our readers.
The paper is chock full of sophistry and specious argle-bargle about how 9/11 was “a quest for global domination begun in the 7th century” and how Islamists are coming for us and must be obliterated by any means possible — along with their religious symbols and holy sites — in order to defeat them and their ideology, lest they begin beheading Americans in our streets. And Bradford posits that journalists and legal scholars who are critical of the so-called war on terror — he calls us CLOACA (contemptuously critical of the law of armed conflict academy) — constitute a “Fifth Column” that, “rather than committing its prodigious talents into the service of its nation of birth or employment, or at least serving as a dispassionate, neutral seeker of truth, CLOACA has mustered into the Islamist order of battle … to direct its combat power against American military power and American political will.”
This is, Bradford writes, a “PSYOP” against Americans.
Of course, the truth is not what Bradford seeks. Nowhere in Bradford’s screed does he mention that ISIS is a creation of the U.S., Israeli and British intelligence and military branches and is funded, armed and encouraged clandestinely by those nations and other U.S. allies in order to bring down the Syrian regime and for the benefit of Saudi Arabia and Israel.
It’s certain the cannon fodder he’s “training” will never hear that in his class. Instead, what they will hear is that they should stand ready to train their guns on those of us who oppose American wars of aggression and American empire.
