Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
The news for Hillary Clinton, the Democratic Party’s frontrunner presidential candidate, keeps growing worse as the New York Times found in its recent investigation the former secretary of state had not just one, but two, secret email accounts used for public business purposes.
The just-discovered second address was used for Clinton’s communications with longtime adviser Sydney Blumenthal, the newspaper reported. It’s also tied to the same private, home-based email server that officials discovered a few months ago.
One message from Clinton to Blumenthal from the secret account, the New York Post reported: “Fyi. The idea of using private security experts to arm the opposition should be considered.” That message came from the account, HRod17@clintonemail.com, and was in context of discussing strategies to oust Libya’s leader in 2011.
HDR22@clintonemail.com was the email address that was previously discovered.
The significance of the second secret email discovery is that Clinton spokespeople insisted just two months ago the only private address the former secretary of state used was the HDR22 one.
Clinton’s attorney previously acknowledged to Rep. Trey Gowdy the Hrod17 email did in fact exist, but insisted it was “not an address that existed during Secretary Clinton’s tensure as secretary of state,” the New York Post reported. But as the New York Times found: The time stamps on the emails, as well as the content of the messages, shows this statement is not accurate.
