Fox News talker: ‘Thug is not a racial slur’

Fox News host Greta Van Susteren told her viewers the word “thug” is hardly a racist label, and those who didn’t believe her should check it out in a dictionary.

The context of her statement is the weeks-long discussion among media personalities over the use of the word “thug” to describe protesters in Baltimore. Many have tried to paint the word as tinged with racism – but Van Susteren argued that claim is ridiculous.

She told critics of the word they ought to stop the “needless bullying” over its definition of “thug,” and instead consult a dictionary.

“Thug is not a racial slur,” she said, during a recent broadcast.

As Mediaite pointed, fellow Fox News personality Geraldo Rivera had just sent out a tweet about the Waco, Texas, biker gang violence that stated: “If murdering bikers were black there’s no doubt we wouldve labeled them Thugs-Time to retire ‘T’ word or be sure it’s not about Race of perp.”
